Brent Peak, LPC
Founder, North Valley Therapy • Trauma & Relationship Specialist • Endorsed by Pia Mellody • ART & PIT Trained
"I'm the therapist to call when you're at the end of your rope — and you're ready to actually do something about it."
I founded North Valley Therapy because I believe people deserve more than symptom management. If you've been carrying the same weight for years and wondering whether therapy can actually move the needle, I think the answer is yes — and I've built my practice around making that happen.
Most of my clients are high-achieving adults navigating complex trauma, burnout, and relationship patterns that traditional talk therapy hasn't touched. They're not broken. They're exhausted, and they're ready for something that works.

My People
The people I work best with are done with surviving. They've read the books, they've tried talking it out, and they still feel stuck. What they want — what I help them find — is actual resolution. Not coping. Not management. Resolution.
That often looks like high-achieving professionals who give everything to their work and relationships, only to find themselves emotionally depleted and running on empty. Or individuals who can trace their current struggles back to childhood — the family dynamics, the wounds they were never given language for — and are finally ready to do something about it. Or couples who love each other but can't seem to stop hurting each other, and want to get to the root of why.
If you've been carrying something you can't quite name, but you know it's there — that's exactly who I work with.

"Brent is a really good therapist and a joy to work with. I found him to be quite skilled at helping patients in developing insight into their issues and moving them into solutions. I have deep respect for his clinical skill."
My Approach
Therapy should be more than a place to vent. It should be an active, focused experience that gets you somewhere. My approach is direct and structured without being cold — I meet people where they are, and I move with intention.
Unlike traditional talk therapy that can stretch on indefinitely, I focus on methods that create real change in real time. I believe you shouldn't have to spend years in therapy just to feel a little better.
- Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
A rapid, evidence-based method for resolving trauma, anxiety, and painful memories — without having to relive them repeatedly. - Post-Induction Therapy (PIT)
Developed by Pia Mellody, PIT offers a clear framework for healing childhood wounds, releasing toxic shame, and reclaiming your authentic self. - Relational Life Therapy (RLT)
A trauma-informed approach to couples work that helps partners break destructive patterns, rebuild trust, and create genuine emotional connection.
My Story
I hold a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and have spent over a decade working with individuals and couples navigating trauma, relational distress, and emotional burnout. I've worked in private practice and in residential treatment — including at The Meadows in Wickenburg — where I had the privilege of working alongside some of the most respected names in the field.
I trained directly with Pia Mellody in Post-Induction Therapy, with Terry Real in Relational Life Therapy, and have completed training in ART, EMDR, somatic approaches, and experiential methods. I hold Pia Mellody's personal endorsement for my PIT work — something I don't take lightly.
Beyond the credentials, I bring real-life understanding to this work. I know what it's like to carry others' burdens while neglecting your own. That's not just clinical knowledge — it's lived experience that therapy has helped me address, and it shapes how I show up for every client.
What Colleagues Say

"Brent not only equips couples with the necessary tools for communication, he also helps them identify and heal the underlying causes and conditions of their fears and resentments. Just recently I received a call from a friend thanking me for referring to Brent — 'He saved our marriage.'"

"I have been fortunate to co-facilitate therapy with Brent and found him to be uniquely skilled at both efficiency and presence in a session — a difficult combination to master. I highly recommend him to anyone struggling with relationship issues."

"I have the utmost confidence in Brent. He works with his clients using some of the best practices available in the field and implements them with gentleness and skill."
Outside the Office
When I'm not with clients, I'm usually trying to convince myself that Arizona summers are manageable — sometimes I even believe it. I love hiking when the weather cooperates, traveling around the state whenever I can, and winding down with a good sci-fi film or a deep conversation with a friend.

I've been a longtime supporter of OCJ Kids, which serves children and teens in Arizona's foster care system, and I'm active in civic organizing here in the northwest valley. I believe that kind people — people who actually show up — can make a real difference.
